Here at SSI HVAC, weāre committed to helping you live comfortably and affordably, any time of year. With the holiday season approaching (and the associated strain on most peopleās wallets), we thought weād share with you a few ways to save money while still staying cozy and warm throughout the winter months.
Maintain consistent thermostat levels. Constantly changing the temperature on your thermostat can waste energy and cost you money. Try to keep your thermostat at around the same level; better yet, if you have a programmable thermostat, consider programming it to drop by a degree or two while youāre away during the day.
Make sure your furnace is working properly.Ā As we mentioned inĀ our last post, inefficient furnaces can cost you dearly. If you havenāt already, schedule a check-up for your furnace to make sure itās performing its best.
Keep your fireplace damper closed when not in use. Whatās better than a crackling fire on a cold winter night? We can tell you whatās worse ā letting precious warm air escape from your house through the chimney when youāre not using it. Make sure your damper is closed when the fireplace isnāt being used.
Lower your water temperature. Consider setting your water heater thermostat to 120 degrees Fahrenheit ā it saves energy (and money) and is warm enough for virtually all of your household needs. (Plus, you and your family donāt run the risk of scalding yourself on too-hot water.)
